The Books and Publications Department at Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU) is one of the sub-units of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology. It supports and coordinates the publication of high-quality academic works authored by the university’s faculty members, staff, and students, with a special focus on medical and health sciences.
By providing professional and ethical oversight of publishing activities, the department helps ensure that scientific, educational, and reference books are produced, reviewed, and disseminated in line with the strategic goals of UMSU.
The Books and Publications Department of Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU) is one of the sub-units of the university's Research and Technology Department. It was founded in 1995 (1374 AH) with the aim of expanding and facilitating the publication of valuable works authored by faculty members, staff, and students, particularly in fields related to medical sciences.
The department was established with the support of the founding members of the Publications Council: Dr. Ramin Behrouzian (then Deputy for Research and Technology), Dr. Ali Rashidi, Dr. Jalal Abbaszadeh, and Dr. Hassan Nanbakhsh.
The department consists of the University Publications Council and the publications specialist. Members of the Publications Council are selected for a period of two years upon the proposal of the Information Management and Scientific Resources unit and are appointed by the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology. The purpose of forming the Publications Council is to review matters related to authorship and translation and to evaluate the suitability of scientific, educational, and supplementary works for publication in line with university objectives.
