Guidelines

If you are thinking of pursuing higher education in medicine or other branches of medical sciences, Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU) is one of the best places to start. Besides various B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs related to medical sciences, you can also apply for doctoral programs in Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy to get your degree from one of the best medical sciences universities.

Also undergraduate students can get admission to medical specialties in UMSU following their graduation. We do recommend you to experience and enjoy the unique Iranian hospitality while studying in UMSU.

 

How to Apply?


Applying to Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU) is free for applicants. This process takes place online and electronically. Interested applicants should sign in and then complete the online UMSU application form available at Application form. Afterwards, we will review your application closely at the Office of Admissions as follows:

1.In case any part of your application is incomplete, this office will consider your application "incomplete" and will email you with list of missing documents. So the application procedure will be paused until all the necessary documents are received.
2. Complete applications will be forwarded to the related school and department for more careful consideration.
Later, they will be sent to the International Students Admission Committee. In the Committee, a final decision regarding the applications will be made and, the applicants will be interviewed virtually or face to face.
3. If your application is accepted. We will provide you with detailed information about the condition(s) of acceptance. Our acceptance is valid for one year.
4. In case of acceptance, the applicant must confirm his or her acceptance by forwarding a completed Visa Application Form to the Office of Admissions in order for us to start processing his or her entry Visa.

 

Who can apply?


Only non-Iranian students can apply to UMSU International Education Program (IEP).
* Note that Iranian citizens and Iranian applicants who hold dual citizenship cannot apply to UMSU International Education Program (IEP). They must take the National Entrance Examination in order to enter UMSU.

 

Application Deadline


Applications to UMSU are open all year round.
The Fall semester starts late September, and the Spring semester starts early February. Please note that:
*     The admission procedure takes about 3 months for applications which have been submitted successfully.
*     The process of getting a student visa lasts a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks.
*     Some programs are offered only once a year.
Based on the above-mentioned points, complete applications should be submitted at least 5 months before the intended semester. Therefore, application submission deadline for February academic sessions is October and for September academic sessions is June of each year.

 

Already Admitted


After being admitted to the Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU), you will be enrolled to the University. Once you are admitted, have received your visa and entered the country, you will be introduced to the Office of Educational Affairs at the University to complete your registration process and pay the annual tuition fee.
* Note that withdrawing from studies can cost you the whole annual tuition fee as well as relevant fines (such as accommodation, utilities, internet, health insurance, and registration fees) according to the University regulations.

 

Visa Application


To start the visa process, you must carefully fill out the UMSU Student Visa Form you received together with your letter of acceptance and email the completed form back to us.

Make sure that you must determine the city where you would like to pick up your Visa. To do so, you are advised to choose the closest city to your current hometown where an Iranian embassy/consulate is located.
It is of great importance that your passport is not expired. Your visa will be issued using your passport, so avoid unwanted problems by using a current and valid passport.
Then, you will enter Iran with a one-month student visa. After visiting your school and familiarizing yourself with your schedule and surroundings, we will accompany you to the Foreign Affairs Ministry branch located in Urmia in order to process your one-year student visa.
