Food and Sanitary Control Laboratory  

A Brief History

By having 710 m2 and 17 professional staff, Food and Sanitary Control Laboratory is located in the suburbs of Urmia. For more than 12 years, our laboratory has tested products, considering product certification, quality requirements, and (inter)national standards. In these years, our well equipped and modern laboratory has tested the quality of a wide range of product including drinks, food, cosmetics & toiletries (C&T) both for import and export and was accredited to ISO 17025 by the Dutch Council of Accreditation (RvA).

Objectives and General Policies:

  • Quality control of raw materials used in supervised regional industries
  • Quality control of food, drink, cosmetics and sanitary products (national and imported items)
  • Monitoring of regional industrial laboratories (in terms of quality control and their ranking)
  • Preparing and documentation of procedures to enhance quality of laboratory
  • Participation in expert inspections of domestic and foreign industries producing raw materials and food, beverage, cosmetic and hygienic products in order to verifying their scientific and technical competency and ensuring their good library practices (GLP)

Lab Sections:

  • Reception and Sample Collection Section
  • Chemical Section: It includes flour and cereal products, paints, oils, sugary foods, beverages, nuts, raw materials, additives and seasons, dairy and meat products sub-sections
  • Packaging Control Section
  • Cosmetics Section
  • Toxicology Section
  • Microbial Analysis Section: It is composed of culture, incubation and sterilization sub-sections

Major Honors & Achievements:

  • 1st position among first level national food and sanitary control laboratories in year 2006
  • 2nd position among first level national food and sanitary control laboratories in year 2007
  • 1st position among first level national food and sanitary control laboratories in year 2008

Laboratory Accreditations:

  • Implementation and deployment of technical and managerial obligations of International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 in all parts of the laboratory
  • Achievement to international accreditation certificate of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 from DAP German company (as the country's first state laboratory) for major export products of province
  • Publishing training manual of implementation of the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 in food and sanitary control laboratories
