The Office of International Relations at Urmia University of Medical Sciences commenced its activities in 2018 with a clear vision focused on expanding education and fostering cross-border scientific collaboration. The starting point of this initiative was the admission of the first cohort of international students from Pakistan in the field of Medicine—an undertaking that not only opened a new horizon in the university’s educational landscape but also enriched the cultural and academic atmosphere on campus.
Over time, and building on the successes achieved, the scope of activities expanded, leading to the continued admission of students in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, MBBS, and MD programs. The university also hosted undergraduate students in Nutrition, some of whom have successfully graduated and pursued their studies at higher levels.
As part of this development-oriented trajectory, the university further created opportunities for international students to pursue postgraduate education. Microbiology, Medical Physics, Biochemistry, Nursing, and Applied Cellular and Molecular Sciences are among the disciplines in which high-quality education and training have been provided, resulting in the graduation of competent professionals who now contribute to research, healthcare, and scientific services.
A particularly noteworthy achievement in this process has been the training of medical specialists—especially pediatric specialists—who, after completing their specialized training at the university, now serve as skilled physicians in their respective communities.
Throughout these years, Urmia University of Medical Sciences has endeavored to cultivate a dynamic, multicultural, and inspiring environment—one in which students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds grow both academically and personally alongside one another. Strengthening educational infrastructure, improving welfare and support services, enhancing international scientific engagement, and creating opportunities for faculty and student exchange have been among the institution’s strategic priorities.
These efforts continue with determination. As the university moves toward expanding its global presence, we remain committed to quality, cultural diversity, and the development of students equipped with an international scientific outlook. We aspire that in the coming years, the presence of Urmia University of Medical Sciences on the global scientific stage will become increasingly prominent and impactful.
