The Department of Pathology in the Faculty of Medicine is responsible for delivering comprehensive education on the mechanisms, morphological changes, and molecular foundations of human diseases, serving as a critical bridge between basic medical sciences and clinical practice. Through its structured curriculum, the department introduces medical students to general and systemic pathology, emphasizing key concepts such as cellular injury, inflammation, tissue repair, hemodynamic disorders, neoplasia, and organ-specific pathological processes. In laboratory sessions, students gain essential practical experience in gross examination, histopathological analysis, slide interpretation, and the use of microscopic and digital diagnostic tools, enabling them to understand the pathological basis of clinical signs and symptoms.

The department’s academic staff actively engage in research across a broad spectrum of topics, including tumor biology, molecular pathology, infectious and inflammatory diseases, and the application of advanced diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular assays. By collaborating with clinical departments, teaching hospitals, and specialized diagnostic centers, the Department of Pathology contributes to improving diagnostic accuracy, strengthening clinical decision-making, and enhancing the overall quality of medical education. Its commitment to integrating scientific knowledge with clinical relevance ensures that future physicians develop a deep understanding of disease mechanisms and the competencies required for evidence-based medical practice.
