The department of orthodontics offers education in didactic and clinical areas in undergraduate level. Our mission in the department is to improve the students with latest knowledge and comprehensive skills in the diagnosis, treatment planning and treating the orthodontic problems which are in the scope of a general dentist and are treatable by removable orthodontic appliances. The other important issue is our emphasis on diagnosing the malocclusions, classifying them as dental or skeletal, timing of treatment, guidance of occlusion and preventive procedures such as space maintaining and regaining if needed. Students are trend to be able to treat a malocclusion as this order: diagnosing the problem, gathering the needed diagnostic documents, taking an appropriate orthodontic impression, trimming the diagnostic casts, constructing a high quality removable appliance and finally treating the malocclusion.
